All of Michigan’s major ski resorts have onsite lodging, so if you’re looking for an all-inclusive getaway, it’s very easy to do. If you’re vacationing on a budget, knowing what your choices are for offsite Michigan ski lodging is extremely helpful. Think, too, about the available ski-and-stay packages. Michigan Ski Lodging near Bessemer

Blackjack Ski Resort, Indianhead, and Big Powderhorn are located within minutes of each other just outside of Bessemer, MI. While Blackjack does not have any onsite lodging of its own, skiers can stay at its sister resort, Indianhead, and enjoy a free shuttle between the two. Indianhead has multiple options for staying onsite. While there is no place with standard hotels, the trailside condominiums more than make up for the lack. Whether you’re after a one-bedroom unit or a 3-bedroom chalet, Indianhead has something for you.

Big Powderhorn has three main areas for lodging at the resort. Snow Summit, Powderhorn Village, and condominiums located at trailside area all there for you to enjoy. The various units have anywhere from 2 to 6 bedrooms and can sleep up to 14 people. All units are either directly on the slope with ski in/ski out access or within a short walking distance.

For offsite lodging, there are several options. There are several smaller motels along US-2 just minutes from the resorts. However, if you travel about fifteen minutes west, you hit Ironwood. This small city has all of the chain hotels that you would expect from Michigan ski lodging. There is a Days Inn, a Comfort, and several smaller locally owned hotels as well. Prices run from a very reasonable $80 to $120 per night during ski season.

Ski Brule

Ski Brule offers onsite lodging in the form of 2 to 6 bedroom condominiums nestled in Brule Village. These comfortable units enjoy a slopeside position with many having ski in/ski out access. Additionally, many units are pet friendly, so if you have a traveling companion, Brule is an attractive option. Offsite, you can find Michigan ski lodging 15 minutes north along SR-89 in the town of Iron River. There is an AmericInn Lodge in town as well as the cozy and quaint Lakeshore Motel.

Boyne Highlands

There are quite a few options for onsite lodging at Boyne Highlands. If you’re looking for a typical hotel room setup, the Bartley House has you covered, as do the Main Lodge and the Heather Highlands Inn. The Bartley House is also home to the largest hot tub in the Midwest. For larger parties, Ross Cottages is located very close to the base and has units that sleep up to eight people. Heather Highlands Townhouses is just on the other side of North Peak and has four bedroom units that can accommodate 12 people. Other condominium sites include Alpine Village and Arthur Hills.

There also plenty of choices to the south around Little Traverse Bay. There are a plethora of motels, including a Best Western, a Comfort Inn, and a Holiday Inn. For something a little more intimate, the Stafford’s Bay View Inn is an amazing property with an incredible view of the lake and a Sunday Breakfast brunch buffet that has to be seen.

Boyne Mountain

There are many diverse options for onsite lodging at Boyne Mountain. The Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa offers deluxe parlor rooms and suites in addition to standard hotel rooms. Other hotel rooms can be found at the Clock Tower Lodge, located slopeside. Edelweiss Lodge is located on the slopes next to the Victor trail, allowing true ski in/ski out access to the resort. For large groups, the Disciples Ridge Condominiums are located near the Boyneland run and can handle up to twelve guests in a unit.

For offsite lodging at Boyne Mountain, nearby Boyne City has three hotels inside the city limits that offer comfortable and inexpensive lodging. A scant fifteen-minute drive north along SR-131 will lead you to Petoskey and Little Traverse Bay. There, you will find the Stafford’s Bay View Inn as well as some modest chain hotels to choose from.

Shanty Creek

Shanty Creek has a little village surrounding the ski slopes for onsite lodging. Here, the three main areas for Michigan ski lodging are Schuss Village, The Lodge at Cedar River, and Lakeview Hotel at Summit. The Lakeview Hotel offers large guest rooms with a spectacular view of Lake Bellaire to the west. The Lodge has suites and studios for rent as well as 14 condominiums on the north face of the mountain. Schuss Mountain Lodge has a wide variety of lodging, ranging from multi-bedroom condominiums to quaint villas that offer pristine views of the slopes.

Offsite lodging for Shanty Creek is located a short ten-minute drive to the north in the town of Bellaire. There, skiers will find a wide three inexpensive and comfortable inns. Bellaire is also home to two wonderful bed and breakfasts, the Grand Victorian and the Bellaire Bed and Breakfast. While both have their charms, the Bellaire B&B has a Carriage House that is removed from the main house for a little more privacy.

Crystal Mountain

For people who are skiing Crystal Mountain, there are over 250 properties and rooms onsite to choose from, and many of them are pet friendly. Standard style hotel rooms can be found at Hamlet or Crystal Colony, both of which are only feet away from the slopes. The Inn at the Mountain offers suites with full kitchens for medium sized parties. For larger groups seeking out the perfect Michigan ski lodging option, Mountainside offers full townhouses for rent, and Pinehurst and Kinlochen have one-to-four bedroom condominiums for rent. More secluded lodgings are available with the Cottages at Water’s Edge, with two and three bedroom cottages that face inward away from prying eyes, yet still are only a short distance from the ski slopes.

Because of Crystal Mountain’s secluded location, offsite lodging is about an hour’s drive to the north east in Traverse City. There are over thirty hotels located along the shoreline on SR-72, ranging from a Best Western Four Seasons to a Country Inn and Suites. There are smaller motels located closer to the resort, including the Mountain Valley Motel located five minutes north along Cadillac Highway.
